The Music

Lawnstock 2019 is excited to announce the complete lineup for the event. The bands that will perform this year include some of Humboldt County’s finest musicians.  Each of these artists have recorded original music that you can check out on their websites linked below.  Humboldt County’s musical community is truly amazing. This will become clear as you listen to the variety of musical styles that will be presented this year. Click on the picture of each band below for more information and links.

Ghost Train has been performing at festivals and most music venues in the area for several years now. The band features remarkable vocalist, Christina D’Alessandro, and can be counted on to provide a great mix of rock, pop, country and funk tunes that will get you up out of your seat and dancing on the grass in no time. Lead guitarist Jimmy Foot has been a professional guitarist for 50 years. His guitar playing is extraordinary. Sam Kaplan-Good is one of the most sought after drummers in northern California. He routinely records with great bands from San Francisco to Humboldt County. Nate Zwerdling on bass along with Sam Kaplan-Good and Orlando Morales on percussion,  a master of latin vibes, rounds out the powerful rhythm foundation of the band. Nate has the unique distinction of being the bassist in four of the bands performing at Lawnstock 2019. Zach Zwerdling founded the band and plays rhythm guitar with an occasional lead solo.

Lawnstock 2019 is excited to present Georgia Ruth a native of Arcata who writes original and beautiful songs that reflect her life experience, love, and delight in nature. Georgia Ruth grew up performing in the Arcata Gospel Choir from the age of 5. She is an original singer songwriter with a powerful roots inspired voice that blends Folk, Americana, Blues and Jazz in a combination that seems natural and inspired.  Members from Humboldt County’s legendary Absynth Quartet will back Georgia Ruth during her performance.

Dynasty One is one of the most exciting live bands on the Northcoast. Fronted by the multi-talented CBaker,  Dynasty One gave a wonderful performance at Lawnstock 2017, wowing the audience with vibrant music combining elements of funk, soul, hip hop, Latin vibes and reggae. In addition to CBaker as MC, Dynasty One features Jennifer Dominick on keys, Colleen McNeely and Leah Mahan on vocals, Piet Dalmolen on guitar, Orlando Morales on percussion, Nate Zwerdling on bass guitar, and Matt Cox on drums.  Dynasty One will absolutely do the same this year.

The Gatehouse Well is a quartet featuring acoustic guitar, mandolin, fiddle, upright bass and woodwinds. This band features the original song-writing of Dominic Romano and Michael Dayvid as well as the virtuosic fiddling by Evan Morden and upright bass of Nate Zwerdling. The band regularly plays many local venues and will perform original material from their upcoming second album “Bring You Ashore,” which will be released on June 21, 2019 with an album release show at the Sanctuary in Arcata.

Wild Abandon, formerly known as Barnett, describes themselves as follows: “Wild Abandon is a band local to Humboldt County since 2015, and creates music that some call Experimental Rock/Country Noir/Alt Indie/Folk Rock/Math Rock/Blues/Pop Fusion/Fill-in-the-blank-genre.  Members include singer-songwriter/guitarist Melanie Barnett, with backing by Cory Goldman, Gabe Lubowe, and Nate Zwerdling.  This will be an awesome set.

Jenny and David and the Sweet Soul Band are well-known to Humboldt County music lovers. This band features great soul covers and originals with outstanding saxophone instrumentals. This is one of the most danceable and enjoyable bands around. The band describes themselves as follows: “Our goal is to have fun, engage our audience and create a party feeling wherever we play.
