“Seven-year-old Tyler Holt (“Ty-Ty”) lives in Arcata, California. In 2013, Tyler was diagnosed with an ATRT (Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor). This tumor is on Tyler’s brain stem. Tyler has undergone multiple surgeries to remove the tumor and, unfortunately, it has relapsed on occasion. The most recent operation was in 2016.

Tyler went through a series of tests and evaluations recently at UCSF and is currently in remission. He is undergoing regular comprehensive medical treatment and evaluation. Tyler has undergone two stem cell transplants, has received shunt revisions and considerable chemotherapy. Tyler is currently in a special day program at Ridgewood Elementary School.

Tyler has a twin brother Taylor, sisters Ariana and Neveah, brothers Ethan and Joe Obie, and grandmas Annette Holt and Kim Obie. Other very important people in Tyler’s life are his step-mom, Ashley Brown and Tyler’s father, Bryan Holt, and his grandfather Gene Holt, who are actively involved in caring and managing Tyler’s care. Bryan and Gene both provide full time day care for Tyler while he is in the Bay Area for medical treatment. While at home, Bryan acts as a full-time caregiver for the children at home which has prevented Bryan from seeking a job outside of the home.

The family has suffered significant financial hardship as a result of Tyler’s medical condition and he still requires many trips to the San Francisco Bay Area for medical treatment. These numerous trips accrue expenses associated with treatment including but not limited to gas, food, lodging while staying in the Bay Area and care for the children at home in Arcata.”

“Some of TyTys qualities include his larger than life attitude along with his super spontaneous silliness to lighten any rooms at  any moment. TyTy loves the outdoors and loves spending evenings at the park with family. He also loves singing, dancing and late night snacks. TyTys most amazing ability’s are to Love & to Fight. He is a true warrior at a time when dealt the worst of hands and under any circumstances he will always hold that bright glowing smile on his face for his love to touch all …..”
